The October-November Video

It’s not the best video, but it’s what I’ve got. It’s just a 5-minute mash of the stuff we’ve recorded since a little before Halloween.

From the text posts preceding this one, you know what all the developments have been: the sudden outbreak of the clap (heh), the supported staggering, the first word (bye!) — a vocabulary that has now doubled to include hi/hej — the waving, the first full tooth. Linguistically Maddie has also added a muh fragment that might be mor or mad (Danish for meal/food), or both, and a dada/dah-dee/diddy thing that sometimes seems to refer to me and other times may be a reference to a door, a table, or a stray leaf blown in from outside. Dentally she has a second tooth breaking through.

As you’ll see in the video, she is an utterly normal pre-toddler at this point. She is big (relative to her former self, and to her sister at the same age) and rowdy and rambunctious and stubborn. We still have trouble getting her to sleep through the night.

There’s a video segment of Molli Malou sleeping. With the right background music it could be very creepy, but Molli Malou had asked me to take video of her while she was sleeping that night so she could see what she looked like. I did, and she was thrilled to see it the next morning. So was I, so I included it. When she’s a teenager and I’m thinking about strangling her, it will be curative to view that bit and remember the innocent little angel she once was. (I will conveniently forget that even the day that video was taken Molli Malou was anything BUT an innocent angel.)

My gasp while Maddie claps has nothing to do with Maddie and everything to do with Molli Malou nearly braining herself in the background, out of frame, while the video is being shot. Watch the background and you can see Molli Malou pop up on the right and prance over to the left, where she apparently did something dangerous. (I no longer remember what.)

Anyway, it’s 51MB in wmv format.
