Emptying out the camera it looks like we have three babies now: two girls and a garden. Trine’s kind enough to call it “our” garden, but she’s the one that’s spent most of the past three weeks turning 10 square meters into the Kammer Nagan Agricultural Project.
As a reminder, he’s an image of the garden area from earlier this spring (okay, early on it was mostly me rooting the big stuff out, but it’s been mostly Trine since).
Notice the anarchic arracy of bushes and hedges and huge sprouting plants of unknown origin. Notice the datestamp: April 25. Here’s a photo from maybe a week after that:
And a few hours later, with the strawberries loaded:
From this angle you can see the rest of the garden hadn’t really been tilled yet.
Trine would spend parts of every day for about a week and a half digging up that hard soil, wrenching out roots, plying out stones, and sacrificing her back and knees for the good of the garden.
The straweberries were already thriving…
And, uh, oh yeah… that baby… she’s been doing okay too.
The older one, too. And look: matching (sort of) sweaters!
Molli Malou set out a big buffet for the whole family this past weekend.
That simple rectangle is just so satisfying to look at:
And the yard is yielding up all kinds of blossoms elsewhere.
And we got our new grill!
But look closely… can you see how the right half of the cooking surface is a griddle rather than a grill? They’re all like that here now. Is that a weirdly Euro thing, or is this happening in America, too? What do we need a griddle for, to fry eggs?
The girls hang relax together.
Molli Malou is getting better at croquet. Hadn’t Tiger Woods won his first Masters by this age?
Here’s Trine finishing up the garden. Observe her, the physiotherapist in training, bend over like a paperclip to work:
I don’t remember “playing outside” meaning I could watch my favorite movie in the shade, but I guess times have changed… that’s the DVD player Molli Malou has in her lap.
Behold the finished garden!
Under the watchful care of Cheryl (with a C) Crow:
And that’s it… the camera’s empty.
Next time videos… really.
There’s a sideburner on this one (it’s under the plate on the right), but I don’t even think I ever used the side burner of my old grill. All I wanted was a big old grill with maybe 15 x 36 inches of genuine, bonafide grilling. On lava rocks. I think all the rest is yuppie silliness.
Wonderful photos and what a fabulous garden you’ve put in. You and Trine should both be very, very proud of yourselves. That’s a ton of work – especially cleaning out the soil and pulling all the old stuff out.
Congratulations on a job well done – can’t wait to see the “fruit” of your labors.

What a lovely garden. YOu would be welcome to come over and provide us with some guidance. US grills have had a third burner for some time generally with a burner to heat chili in a pot or some such, but they have options to use as a griddle. Lovely pictures of the girls as well. AML Pop-pop (Dad)
